Party Budget

You can have fun on any size party budget!

It is easy to go over your party budget and get too much food or decorations.

It is easy to get too excited when planning. Just remember you are in charge. It’s ok if you are on a tight budget.

You may feel that certain things would go perfectly but just cost too much. That’s ok! Most people live on budget’s.

I have only recently realized that if I don’t get the punch bowl that would look so wonderful no one is going to notice.

Let alone say, “I saw the greatest punch bowl at such and such the other day, your party would have been much better if you would have had that.”

Of course not! As long as people have a good time that’s all that matters.

My biggest tip-Whether you have a large or small party budget try and do things that are more convenient.

For example it may be cheaper to buy frozen juice and make it yourself but it would be easier to buy premade juice. Or using Christmas china might be great but with small children running around paper plates would be more practical and easier clean up.

If you want things for your party that need to be just perfect-like for a formal occasion. Don’t assume you have to go over budget! You can get discounts by planning well in advance-paying in full from the beginning-look for coupons!-or give yourself extra time to get things done.

Whatever your occasion-large or small-formal or not-set a budget before hand. You can stay within it, have a great party and get rid of one more stressor-the bill.

While using the Party Planning Checklist list your budgeted amount in the space provided. Then write down the cost next to every item!! When you list the invitations you will use look up how many and how much that will be. Write it down immediately!

You will find if you keep track this way you will know if you can meet your budget.

Another great tip-When you are planning the food make a menu as soon as possible.

Go to the grocery store and price things out. You can know far in advance exactly what you will spend on food. If you are going to go over budget with your menu do two things before changing it.

1. Make sure you get everyone to RSVP. Maybe less people will be attending than you thought, and the food bill will be less.

2. Look for sales and coupons. You should have given yourself plenty of time. So when the local ads come on Sunday use those coupons and start stocking up on needed items.
