Murder in the Dark
Type of Game: Adult - Murder in the Dark Equipment: Paper, Pencil Formation: 1 Vs. All # of Players: 5+ Description: Have everyone sit in a circle, facing each other. Give out pieces of paper. There should be one for each player. All the pieces are blank, except for one that has a black dot on it. Whoever gets the paper with the black dot on it is the murder. But he tells no one. Have all the players join hands. Then turn out the lights. The murderer then begins squeezing hands. If he squeezes 5x, the person next to him squeezes the next players hand 4x, and so on until a person gets their hand squeezed once. That person falls down dead. This can be done dramatically or you can die a slow and silent death. The two people on either side of the dead person now join hands. The murderer then starts again. He can choose how many squuzes to give, and how long after the last person died before he begins again. The key is to guess the murderer. If someone thinks they know the murderer, they can guess. If they guess correctly they win, if they guess incorrectly they are dead. We have played this at lots of different parties. At a recent family reunion, my dad, a 55-year-old man, got into the dramatic murdering. Complete with blood curtling screams, gun shots, slumped over dead, falling to the floor, the whole bit. It was a riot to see an older man, at an adult party, get this involved in a game!
