The Conference Call Party Game
The Conference Call Party Game is a fun game of Action, Learning and Excitement. First thing you do is to break the group up into 3-4 equal sized groups. The telephone call comes in when you give a slip of paper to each group and the first person in the line reads the paper (to themselves). Then they give the paper back to you. The leader of the team tells the person next to them (in their ear) what was on the paper. Then down the line it goes till the last person in the line has to act as secretary for the conference call. They have to write down what they were told and then you (as the leader again) have them repeat it out-loud to all the people in the "conference call" It will be funny what strange things you will end up with at the end. The learning part of this party game is to have a reflection at the end to find out what people learned. Some will learn that what they hear is not always what is being said. Others will learn that they need to communicate better and speak slower, making sure that people understand what they are saying before they "pass it on" Others will learn that they need to clarify before they take a communication as face value. A spin on this would be have every group have different sayings to pass down the line, have them say it out loud, loud enough that everyone in the room can here what is being said. This will add to the confusion and will make for a fun "reflection" on the outside noise while you are trying to talk with someone during the party game. I have seen this done as a work icebreaker game to get everyone thinking about how they talk to each other at work. They ended up thinking and reflecting that the party game was just like what they do everyday at work. So use this as a learning game or as a icebreaker party game for your next office party.
