The first thing that you need is a Theme! This may sound a little hokey, but once you get into it you will see the brilliance behind my ideas. A theme can be anything from a Birthday Party, to graduation, to a jungle theme.

Have fun with it and your guests will too. If you do decide on the jungle theme you will probably have one funny guy show up in a gorilla or Tarzan outfit. Everyone will love it and the party will grow from there.
