Fun ice breakers are the start to any great party game

Fun ice breakers are well just that fun ways to break the ice or get to know new people at parties.

That is what party games are all about…having fun and getting to know other people.

One of the most fun Ice breakers I have ever played is the “string party game”p>To set up this icebreaker games you need to have a spool of string or some twine or rope cut into about 3 foot lengths.

You need a piece of string for every person that is coming to your party.

As the guests arrive to play your party games tie them up. Tie a slipknot around each of the guests hands so that they have one piece of string with about 18 inches of play in between their hands.

You will tie the next person that comes to your party in like manner except this time you will loop the string or rope through the hole made by the first person.

This will make a X with the ropes.

Once the couple is tied together you tell them that their goal is to get apart. Without taking the rope or string off their wrists.

I have seen this played hundreds of times and it is one of those fun ice breakers people will be talking about for years to come.

I remember playing it at college one time in a recreation therapy class. I set it up and brought the ropes and stuff.

As each person came in they got the rope and started this group icebreaker.

This went on and on till everyone had made it to the college party. No one could figure out how to get out of the rope.

But they were all laughing and having a good time talking and trying too.

The hint or how to get the ropes off you can save till no one can get out of them.

You may have a few people that have played it before work it out, but most people won’t.

This is how you do it. (So you look really smart)

Trick; The person with the string that is on top is string A Take string A and make a small loop, guide string A from the forearm under string B to the wrist and over the hand and under string B on the top side of wrist. Then pull apart.

It is that easy and it really is a fun ice breakers game.

Ok so you will need to try this one at home first. Make sure that you know how to get it off before you try to lead this or any of the other Group icebreakers.

A really fun thing to do it to match this string party game with the Matching party game

For this icebreaker game you will need to come up with things that go together like milk and cereal or Sonny and Cher.

Write items or people on labels (like the Hello my Name is…ones) as the guests arrive put a label on their back and inform them to figure out who or what they are by using only yes or no questions.

After they figure out who or what they are they are to find their match.

For example if I were cheese I would have to find cracker and if your match has not guessed who they are yet help them by telling them yes or no to their answers.

To make this party game harder you could write the items or people on a paper that fold down. Then after the person has figured out who or what they are, they still have to ask yes or no questions to find their match.

Once a person has figured out who they are they cannot walk up to someone else and say who they are. For example you can’t say I’m butter are you cheese?

They have to ask questions like are you bread? Are you cheese? Are you crackers? Once everyone has found their match the game is over.

I have seen this icebreaker game used to start dances. Or other teenage parties. It cuts out the awkwardness. Once they have found their match the music starts and they start dancing.
